Data Handling Statement
Version 1.0, effective 2026-10-08.
This statement explains what data $Peek uses, where it goes and who can see it. $Peek is a product of Ai4Life (Atonce FZE). Questions: support@ai4life.ae.
The short version
- Your ledger stays on your computer. Ai4Life never receives, hosts or sees your transactions, balances, loans, holdings or reports.
- No account, no tracking. $Peek has no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no telemetry.
- Activation is a one-time check. $Peek sends your Gumroad licence key and Machine ID to Ai4Life to confirm your purchase and receive your key (and once more for your Lifetime key). After that, the licence check works offline.
- Otherwise $Peek only goes online for features you choose: your TranSMS rows, and market prices.
1. Data stored on your computer
Everything is kept in $Peek's data folder on your computer. For the installed Windows app this is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Peek; for the portable version it is the data folder inside your $Peek folder.

Your PIN is never stored, only a one-way fingerprint of it. The ledger file itself is not encrypted, so protect your computer with a Windows password and use the $Peek PIN. Anyone with access to your Windows account can open these files.
2. When $Peek connects to the internet

$Peek requests read-only access to your Google Sheet: it cannot change it. Nothing else is sent anywhere.
3. Phone access (optional)
If you start $Peek in phone mode, it also listens on your private network so your own phone can open it. Use it only on a private network such as Tailscale, never on public Wi-Fi, and always with a PIN.
4. TranSMS (a separate Ai4Life service)
TranSMS is optional. If you subscribe to it:
- Your bank SMS text is sent from your phone (iPhone Shortcut, or pasted into the TranSMS Telegram bot) to Ai4Life's automation server (n8n, hosted on a private server).
- To read the amount, date and merchant, the server sends the message text to an AI text-extraction service (OpenAI-compatible API). Account numbers are not needed for this and you can remove them before pasting.
- You confirm the category in Telegram, and the result is written to your own Google Sheet (tabs LOG, SETUP, PendingTransactions, MerchantMemory). That sheet is the record; Ai4Life does not keep a separate copy.
- On Ai4Life's server, execution logs that contain the message text are deleted automatically after 14 days.
- Telegram, Google and the AI provider process the data under their own terms and privacy policies.
- If you link TranSMS with a connection code, $Peek asks Ai4Life's server for your own LOG and SETUP rows when you press Refresh; the server reads them from your sheet and returns them, without storing them. With a Google key file instead, $Peek reads the sheet directly (section 2).
If you prefer that no transaction text passes through any server, import bank statements instead: they never leave your computer.
5. What Ai4Life holds about you
To issue and support your licence, Ai4Life keeps: your name and email (from your Gumroad purchase), your Gumroad sale and licence key, the dates of your purchase and keys, your licence ID and your Machine ID (a code derived from your computer's Windows identifier, which reveals nothing about you or your files). Ai4Life keeps these for as long as your licence is active and as required by UAE law for business records, and never sells them.
6. Your rights
Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and other applicable laws, you may ask Ai4Life to access, correct or delete the personal data it holds about you, or to stop processing it, subject to legal exceptions. Write to support@ai4life.ae.
Your ledger is under your control: delete it at any time by deleting $Peek's data folder.
7. Children
$Peek is intended for adults managing their own finances.
8. Changes
If this statement changes in a way that affects you, $Peek will show the new version and ask you to accept it.
