About TranSMS
What exactly is TranSMS?
A personal-finance automation that turns the transaction SMS your bank already sends you into clean, categorised rows in your own Google Sheet. You confirm each one with a single tap in Telegram, and the sheet's built-in dashboard shows where your money goes.
Who is TranSMS for?
Anyone who has tried to track spending and given up — no finance knowledge needed. If you receive bank SMS alerts and use Telegram, you can use TranSMS. It's built in the UAE with UAE bank alerts and dirhams in mind.
Do I need to understand finance or spreadsheets?
No. You never have to write a formula or build a chart. You tap a category; the template does the sorting, totals and charts for you. If you like spreadsheets, everything is there to explore.
How is AI used — and does it decide for me?
An AI text-extraction service reads each SMS to pick out the amount, merchant and date, and suggests a category. It can only choose from your category list, and anything it gets wrong is caught before you see a button.
It never decides for you: nothing is logged until you tap. If the AI service is unavailable, a rules-based fallback reads the SMS instead.
Can I change the categories?
Yes. Categories and sub-categories come from the SETUP tab in your own sheet, and the Telegram buttons are built from that list live — edit it there and your buttons follow.
What happens with foreign-currency transactions?
Spending in USD or EUR is converted to AED automatically, so your totals stay in one currency. The original amount and rate are shown in Telegram (e.g. AED 1200.00 (EUR 300 @ 4)) and kept in your Transactions tab, so you can always check the raw figure.
Is TranSMS financial advice?
No. TranSMS records and organises your own transactions; it doesn't recommend products, investments or loans. For financial decisions, consider your own situation and, where appropriate, a licensed adviser in the UAE.
Does TranSMS work with $Peek?
Yes, optionally. $Peek is our private personal-finance hub for Windows (sold separately). Send /peek to the TranSMS bot, paste the code into $Peek, and your TranSMS transactions flow into its reports. TranSMS works perfectly on its own too.
Privacy & security
Do you need my bank login or card details?
Never. TranSMS has no connection to your bank and no way to log in or move money. It only reads the alert text your bank already sent to your phone.
Where is my data stored?
- Your transactions live in the Google Sheet in your own Google account.
- We keep a small directory linking your Telegram chat ID and sheet ID to your subscription — no transaction content.
- Processing happens transiently on our self-hosted automation server at the moment a transaction is captured or confirmed.

Can TranSMS see my other messages or files?
No. The Pro automation only forwards messages containing the words you set (like "debited"), and our Google access is limited to the one sheet you share — not the rest of your Drive.
Can I revoke access?
Any time. Remove our access from your sheet's Share settings, mute or block the bot, or cancel on Gumroad. Your sheet and everything in it stays yours.
Will anything be logged without my approval?
No. Every transaction waits for your tap (or an explicit /add). There is no silent auto-categorisation.

What do I need to get started?

Does it work on Android?
Basic works on any phone with Telegram — just forward or paste the SMS. Pro automatic capture currently uses iPhone Shortcuts; Android auto-capture is planned. Follow @ai.4_life for news.
Which banks does it work with?
TranSMS reads the text of the SMS, so it works with banks that send transaction alerts by SMS. If an unusual message isn't read correctly, you'll still see it before anything is logged — or you can type it with /add.
What if a transaction is missed?

How much does it cost?
Basic is $3/month (manual entry), Pro is $6/month (automatic iPhone capture). Prices are in USD and billed monthly through Gumroad.
How do I pay? Do you see my card?
Payment is handled entirely by Gumroad, our payment processor and merchant of record. We never receive or store your card details.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, from your Gumroad account. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Everything already in your Google Sheet stays yours — it was never stored with us.
Can I switch between Basic and Pro?
Yes. Message us on Instagram or by email and we'll help you move across.
